THE RT. REV’D. JOS THARAKAN
XIV Bishop of Idaho
01/26/2026
Dear Sisters and Brothers of the Community of the Mother of Jesus;
It is with a deep sense of humility I accept your invitation to serve as your next Bishop Visitor. I consent to your choice and pray that the Lord and the Blessed Mother walk with us all as we begin this new chapter together.
These are not normal times. We find ourselves in a time of significant glob
al and national turmoil; as the shadows of authoritarianism and Christian nationalism grow, our community has a vital role to play. Our mission—to pray, to lift up our nation, and to live with radical faithfulness—is more urgent than ever.
In living into our vows of Justice, Tenderness, Humility, and Contemplation, let us at all times, seek justice for all, practice tenderness toward the lowly, walk in humility, and abide in contemplation. Let us remind ourselves that the neighbor is need is next door, on the side of the road, hungry and afraid!
Let us recall the power of Our Lady’s intercession. As Sr. Lúcia of Fatima says:
"There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary."
Just as Mary invited the children of Fatima to be her partners in prayer before the world was torn apart by war, she invites us today to be agents of peace. By saying the Holy Rosary faithfully and following her "Yes" to God, we become partners in the work of healing.
Thank you, once again, for choosing me to serve you. I look forward to walking this path of discipleship alongside you. Being your visitor is a blessing to me more than you know!
In Christ and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
The Right Rev’d. Jos Tharakan
XIV Bishop of Idaho
